The island has 3000 inhabitants, who are divided among Chora, Skala, which is also the main port and Kampos.
What is remarkable about Patmos is that it is free of mass tourism: there are no giant hotels, or all-night bars but it has splendid beaches, top restaurants, cultural events, a vivacious night life of bars and clubs and, along with a good peppering of celebrities, a devoted international clientele which have restored some of the finest historic houses in Greece.
